  • Support opportunities for children with disabilities and for children at risk of disability, from birth to school entry.

  • If a (threatening) mental disability is diagnosed, children are entitled to integration assistance in accordance with Section 35a sGB VIII.

Integration aid under Section 35a of the SGB VIII is youth assistance. The Youth Office decides on the granting of aid, on the nature, scope and duration. In contrast to support for education, the child/young person is entitled to integration assistance and not the person entitled to the guardian.

An expert (doctor for child and adolescent psychiatry and psychotherapy, child and adolescent psychotherapist or doctor or psychologist/psychotherapist with special experience in the field) must assess the mental health of the child. He cites the disturbances and extent to which the child has already been demonstrably impaired.

On the basis of the expert report and its own technical assessment of the impairment of participation in life in society, the Youth Office takes a decision on the integration aid to be granted.
