You can register online or on site at one of the BürgerServiceCenters.

Online:

You can register online alone or with your family. Children of legal age must register themselves.
You can register for a sole or main residence.

• Click on "Complete online" to go directly to the online service.
• You log in to the online service with your Bund ID user account.
• Enter all the necessary data, upload the required documents and submit the application.
• After the registration authority has checked all the information, you will receive an email in up to 10 days.
• Return to the online service and complete the process.
• Your electronic registration confirmation is now available for download in the online service.
• Update the address stored on the ID card. An address sticker for your ID card will then be sent to you by Bundesdruckerei.
• The new address sticker will arrive by post. All you have to do is affix it to your ID card. Everything is now up to date.

On site at the BürgerServiceCenter

You can make an appointment at one of the BürgerServiceCenters or come without an appointment during the open consultation hours.

In person for yourself:

• You appear in person.
• Bring all the necessary documents with you.
• The registration form will be filled out for you on site. You must sign it.
• Once the documents have been checked, you will receive confirmation of registration.
• The address data will be updated on the German ID card, the EU citizen card (eID card) or your electronic residence permit (eAT) directly on site.

In person for the family:

• You appear in person.
• An adult family member can register the whole family for joint residence.
  • Parents need a written power of attorney from their adult children, the signed registration form and the child's original ID.
• Bring all the required documents with you.
• The registration form will be filled out for you on site. You must sign it.
• Once the documents have been checked, you will receive confirmation of registration.
• The address data will be updated on the German ID card, the EU citizen card (eID card) or your electronic residence permit (eAT) directly on site.

By proxy:

• You can also be represented by a person. An informal power of attorney is required for this. Life partners also require a power of attorney.
• Guardians require a power of attorney or a guardian's identity card. The guardian's identity card must authorize registration or re-registration.
• Bring all the necessary documents with you. You must also bring the power of attorney, the signed registration form and the original identity card of the person who is to be re-registered.
• Once the documents have been checked, you will receive confirmation of registration immediately.
• The address data will be updated on the German ID card, the EU citizen card (eID card) or your electronic residence permit (eAT) directly on site.

At the BürgerServiceCenter: Processing takes place immediately during your appointment. Online: If the information and documents submitted are complete, we will provide you with a registration certificate in your user account for download within 10 working days. You will then receive the address sticker for your ID card and/or passport by post.
