The authority issues a certificate of competence for the respective activity. Proof must be provided that the personal skills and abilities for pest control are present.
Anyone who has passed an examination or completed training that has been recognized by the Veterinary and Food Inspection Office - e.g. the recognized qualification ”certified pest controller” - is qualified.
Since August 1, 2004, there has been vocational training for pest controllers. This lasts 3 years and concludes with a corresponding examination at a vocational college after practical and theoretical training units. Further details are regulated by the ordinance on vocational training for pest controllers.
If the intended pest control is limited to certain areas of application, anyone who has passed an examination or successfully completed training that has been recognized as suitable for these activities by the competent authority is also qualified.
