If you transport passengers in a cab, a rental car, an ambulance, a passenger car on regular services or in other vehicles for a fee or for business purposes, you will need a driving license for passenger transport (FzF) in addition to the general driving license.
The passenger transport license is issued for a period of no more than five years and can be extended for up to five years upon application
A driving license for passenger transport is not required for
- ambulances of the Federal Armed Forces, the Federal Police, the police and the troops and civilian staff of other states party to the North Atlantic Treaty,
- Civil protection ambulances if they are used for this purpose,
- ambulances of fire departments and rescue services recognized under national law,
- motor vehicles, with the exception of cabs, if the driver is in possession of category D or D1.
