With the class B driver's license, you can drive motor vehicles (motor vehicles) with a maximum permissible mass of 3.5 tons. The motor vehicle must also be designed for no more than eight people (in addition to the person driving).
You can transport trailers weighing less than 750 kilograms with a Class B driver's license. If the total mass of the vehicle combination is not more than 3.5 tons, the trailer may also weigh more than 750 kilograms.
The class B driver's license is issued for an unlimited period of time.
Anyone who wants to drive a motor vehicle on public roads in the Federal Republic of Germany needs a driver's license. The driving licence is issued in certain categories and must be proven by a driving licence. The requirements for obtaining a driving licence for the different categories of driving licence differ greatly.
The licence shall be issued for the relevant category if the applicant:
- has his normal place of residence in Germany,
- has reached the required minimum age:
- 15 years for classes AM,
- 16 years for categories A1, T and L
- 17 years for classes B, BE
- 18 years for categories A2, B, BE, C1, C1E, C, CE, D 1, D1E, D, DE
- 20 years for classes A, D, DE
- 21 years for classes A, C, CE, D1, D1E, D, DE
- 23 years for classes D, DE
- 24 years for classes A, D, DE
- is suitable for driving motor vehicles
- has been trained to drive motor vehicles in accordance with the Driving Instructors Act and the legal provisions based on it,
- has demonstrated the ability to drive motor vehicles in a theoretical and practical examination,
- masters the basics of caring for road accident victims or can provide first aid,
- meets the requirements for vision,
- does not hold a driving licence of this category issued in a Member State of the European Union or another State party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area and proves that the conditions have been met.
