If you want to obtain a driver's license for the first time, you must submit an application to the driver's license authority. You can usually submit the required documents directly to your driving school, and they will take care of everything else.
With a regular Class B car driver's license, you are allowed to drive motor vehicles weighing up to 3,500 kilograms. You can also transport trailers weighing less than 750 kilograms with a Class B driver's license. To transport trailers weighing between 750 and 3,500 kg, you also need a trailer driver's license (Class BE).

Procedure
Once you have decided on a driving school and registered there, you can usually submit all the documents required to apply for your driver's license there. Your driving school will then take care of everything necessary and inform you about the next steps.
Deadlines
You must take the theory test within 12 months of receiving your documents from the driving license authority. The practical test must be taken within 12 months of passing your theory test.
Your driving license will usually be issued to you immediately after you pass the practical test.
Processing time
The processing takes place parallel to the driving school training.
