If you receive a traffic violation notice, you may file an appeal within two weeks with the administrative authority that issued the notice. You may file your appeal in writing or orally for the record at the Central Traffic Violations Office. Alternatively, the appeal can also be filed online after authentication via BayernID. It is also possible to file an appeal by telephone. This must be done on the record with the authority that issued the notice. The local court decides on the admissibility of the appeal if the administrative authority upholds the fine notice and the public prosecutor’s office does not dismiss the case. The local court with jurisdiction is the one in whose district the administrative authority is headquartered; in certain cases, it may also be the local court of the place where the offense was committed or the place of residence of the person concerned.

Preconditions
The recipient of a fine notice may file an appeal against the fine notice if he or she disagrees with it. Third parties may do so only if they have been granted the appropriate power of attorney.

In the case of a written statement, the deadline is met only if the objection is received by the issuing administrative authority before the deadline expires. The statement must be written in German. The deadline for filing an objection to a fine notice is two weeks after the notice is served.
