If you keep a dog over 3 months old in the area of the municipality of Bremen, you must do so within 2 weeks

• after the start of ownership (e.g. after acquiring the dog or after moving to the municipality of Bremen) or
• after the 3rd month of the dog's life

to the Bremen tax office, stating the name and address of the previous owner.

After registering your dog, you will receive a tax assessment notice and a tax stamp. Your dog must wear this tax tag if it leaves the house or property where it is kept.

The dog tax stamps valid from 01.01.2022 to 31.12.2025 are round and yellow. These lose their validity on 31.12.2025.
The dog tax sticker valid from 01.01.2026 to 31.12.2029 is round and green. If your dog is already registered, you will automatically receive a new tax stamp.

If you lose the tax stamp, please inform the Bremen tax office. You will then receive a replacement tag. A fee of 10.50 euros will be charged for this.
