Explosive substances have a high hazard potential. The aim of the Explosives Act is to protect people and property from these dangers.
Against this background, you generally require a storage permit in accordance with the Explosives Act for the storage of explosive substances. Significant changes to an approved storage facility or significant changes to operations also require a permit. If you store a net explosive mass of 10 tons or more, you require a permit in accordance with the Federal Immission Control Act. This permit is then also considered a permit in accordance with the Explosives Act.
A storage permit is not required if the "small quantities" specified in the Second Ordinance to the Explosives Act are not exceeded.
