Your child is in the fourth grade of elementary school. After receiving the development report from the elementary school, you must choose which type of school and which school your daughter or son should attend in the future.
Schleswig-Holstein offers the option of attending a community school or a grammar school.
In grammar schools, years 5 and 6 are designed as an orientation stage. The aim of the orientation stage is to support and challenge the children and to determine whether the pupil is likely to be able to work successfully at grammar school.
Community schools do not have an orientation level - these schools are characterized by extended joint learning and individual support. All pupils should be supported and challenged according to their abilities and also be taught together to a large extent beyond year 6.
All secondary schools provide information about their offers and requirements at events. Children must be registered at the school of their parents' choice within the registration period.
You will be informed of the dates of the information events and the registration period by the elementary school your child attends.
