European patent attorneys who are admitted in another EU member state in which the profession of patent attorney is regulated can establish themselves in Germany as European patent attorneys if they are admitted to the Chamber of Patent Attorneys.
Once you have been admitted to the Chamber of Patent Attorneys, you are entitled to work in Germany under the professional title of your country of origin to provide legal services in the field of foreign and international industrial property protection. The country of origin must be indicated in German. As a member of the Chamber of Patent Attorneys, you are bound by the professional rights and obligations of a patent attorney. However, you may not advise or represent clients in the field of German industrial property protection even after admission to the Chamber of Patent Attorneys.
The application for admission to the Chamber of Patent Attorneys must be submitted to the Chamber of Patent Attorneys. The Chamber of Patent Attorneys is a federal corporation under public law, over which the President of the German Patent and Trade Mark Office exercises state supervision.
