If you are 15 years or older, you are allowed to drive a moped on public roads. To do this, you must have a so-called ”moped test certificate”. You will receive this if you have successfully completed theoretical and practical moped training and have passed the required theoretical examination.
Exception:
- Anyone who has reached the age of 15 before 01.04.1980 does not need a driving license or a moped test certificate to drive a moped.
- You also do not need a moped test certificate if you hold a valid German driver's license of any category or have a valid foreign driving license that entitles you to drive motor vehicles in Germany.
