The Juleica is a nationwide ID card for youth leaders. You can apply for the Juleica at the responsible office and use it for the following purposes:
- for legitimation towards parents of children and young people in care
- to legitimize yourself as a youth leader towards authorities and other bodies and institutions, for example when requesting assistance (police, consulates, youth welfare offices, etc.)
- as a prerequisite for receiving special leave for youth leaders to carry out certain youth work activities (e.g. holiday camps), in accordance with state or federal law
- as a prerequisite for youth leaders to receive compensation for loss of earnings from state funding plan funds (for example when supervising holiday camps or when participating in initial training for youth leaders, also as team leaders)
- Attention: Only for youth leaders of Hamburg youth associations
- for free borrowing of books and other media from the Hamburg Public Library
- to receive free books and other publications on political education from the State Office for Political Education
- for free borrowing of media and equipment from the State Institute for Teacher Training and School Development Hamburg
- for the purchase of discounted tickets (“Blue Tickets”) for the Hamburg Transport Association (HVV) for children and young people up to the age of 21 and for group accompaniment during travel in the HVV transport network
- for the legitimation of the use of space for events in public buildings (for example in schools and youth centers) by youth association groups
- for free membership in the German Youth Hostel Association and a 10 percent discount on accommodation and food costs for private stays
- to receive further discounts, benefits, assistance (voluntary services) from public or private institutions or providers, for the youth leader or for his/her group
