No general tuition fees are charged at the state universities in Saarland for studies up to the first professionally qualifying degree (Bachelor's degree) and for studies in a consecutive degree program leading to a further professionally qualifying degree (Master's degree), as well as in state examination degree programs. However, students must pay a semester fee upon enrolment and for each subsequent semester. This is made up of
- Contribution to administrative costs,
- Contribution to accident, liability and theft insurance,
- Semester ticket for local public transport,
- Contribution to the student representation (student body contribution),
- contribution to the student union.
The specific amount of the fees can be found on the university websites. Most universities also charge fees for guest students, second degree students and senior students. Additional fees, e.g. in the case of long-term studies, are possible.
Further information on the specific amount of these fees can also be found on the university websites. In cases of particular hardship and to compensate for disadvantages, the universities sometimes provide options for exemption from fees. Information on this can be obtained from the universities.
Fees may be charged for degree programs at other universities. Please contact the respective university for more information.
