Counseling on HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) is offered in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern by the health authorities of the districts and independent cities and by counseling centers for sexual health and education run by independent providers. Counseling is confidential, anonymous and free of charge.

- Safer sex rules
- Risk assessment
- HIV antibody test - necessity, procedure, waiting periods
- Risks in the area of prostitution
- Risks of infection in the medical field
- Risks of infection in everyday life
- Fear of AIDS
- Dealing with a positive test
- Living with HIV
- Possibilities of drug prevention (PEP and PrEP)
Counseling can take place in person or by telephone. The counseling centers for sexual health and education also offer online counseling.
It is possible to have an anonymous HIV test at all health authorities. The counseling centers for sexual health and education in Wismar, Rostock and Stralsund also offer anonymous HIV rapid tests. It may be necessary to make an appointment in advance.
