They work in the state administration at the 71 Bavarian district administration offices as well as in independent cities, insofar as these have been assigned public health service tasks. Their tasks are in particular
- Health promotion,
- general health education and prevention,
- psychosocial counseling for mentally ill and addicted people and their relatives,
- counseling people with disabilities and their relatives,
- specialist advice and involvement in the specialist area of care and disability facilities - quality development and supervision (formerly home supervision),
- Sex education, sex education,
- pregnancy counseling.
The classification depends on the activity performed in pay group S 11b or S 12 TV-L. After three years of full-time employment, it is possible to be taken on as a civil servant (salary group A 9) if the requirements under civil service law are met.
