If you want to use the online ID function as a provider in your own application, you need an authorisation certificate.

Have you lost your identity card? Then you need to report this. In addition, you must apply for a new identity card if you are over 16 years old and do not have any other valid passport document.

In some cases, people can exceptionally be exempted from the general identification requirement.

You may apply for a new social security card if you have lost your card, damaged it, or if it is no longer readable.

In the event of an emergency, you can be issued with an emergency travel document by the border authorities (Federal Police) before you travel, provided that you are a national of Germany or another EU Member State or have a secure residence status.

The processing status of the identity card can be requested from the responsible office.
