Information about Rights & Duties
As a person with disabilities, you can receive training allowance to cover your living expenses if you take part in certain training measures.
In order to be able to work in Germany as a veterinarian without restriction, you need the Approbation.
The Approbation is the state admission to the profession. The Approbation is necessary because the profession is regulated in Germany. This means that you are not allowed to work independently as a veterinarian without an Approbation.
The Approbation will be granted to you by the competent authority if your veterinary education is equivalent to the German education. The equivalence is checked in the recognition procedure. You have to fulfill further requirements for the granting of the Approbation.
You can also obtain an Approbation in Germany with a professional qualification from a so-called third country. Third countries are all countries that do not belong to the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland.
If your professional qualification originates from the EU, the EEA or Switzerland, other regulations apply.
You can also submit the application for the procedure from abroad.
Do you live abroad or are you planning to move abroad and would like to register your child at a German school? Find out more about German schools abroad here.
Sie erhalten monatlich Pauschalbeträge.
Pupils who can demonstrate a need to do so will receive a grant which is granted as a non-repayable grant from the start of their training, but not for periods prior to application.
Training in general and vocational schools (from grade 10) and colleges is eligible.
The support for the attendance of secondary general education and some other schools presupposes that the trainee does not live with his/her parents and that the external accommodation is also necessary, especially since the school visited (or another comparable) school is not accessible from the parents' home.
Training at vocational academies cannot be promoted in Lower Saxony.
In the case of need, the amount of the support depends on the income and assets of the pupil and, since the support is generally family-dependent, on the income of the parents and the spouse or registered partner. Insofar as allowances laid down in the law are exceeded, this shall be counted against the respective requirement rate and shall reduce the amount of the subsidy accordingly.
Support is provided for subsistence and training (the so-called need). The BAföG provides for lump sums as a monthly requirement, the amount of which depends on the type of place of education and accommodation (with parents or living abroad). A childcare supplement may be granted for trainees with children under the age of ten.
An exact statement as to whether funding is to be expected under the BAföG and, if necessary, how much can only be made after a careful examination of all individual requirements by the competent authority.
Your college education will receive individual financial assistance to the extent that the funds necessary for living and education are not otherwise available.
